The 2022 Toyota 4Runner uses a 4.0-liter V6 engine that dates back to the early 2000s. But age, in this case, is no bad thing. This engine is a proven workhorse. Additional off-road performance-enhancing features include Multi-Terrain Select and Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System. MTS has four terrain modes as well as a monitor that displays your immediate surroundings. Just press a button to view front, side, and rear camera views on the 4Runner's 8-inch display.

KDSS enhances the standard suspension system by decoupling the front and rear sway bars as needed. This allows for greater wheel articulation, an important feature for driving over extremely uneven terrain. The sway bars automatically reconnect when the terrain becomes flat and smooth again. 

TRD models

As if the 2022 Toyota 4Runner wasn't capable enough already, it is available with several TRD models that further boost off-road performance, including the TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, and TRD Pro. Getting the whole family inside the 2022 Toyota 4Runner is easy. Both the front- and second-row seats are spacious, with generous shoulder, hip, head, and leg room in all seating positions, and an optional third row well suited for larger families with young children. Upholstery materials range from cloth fabric to SofTex® leatherette to perforated genuine leather. Available heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a power moonroof further enhance comfort.

Cargo hauling

The 4Runner is an exceptional cargo hauler. Deep cubbies at the front and a large trunk at the back, combined with an optional pull-out cargo deck that can help you load items up to 440 pounds, make it easy to store all sorts of items inside the SUV.
