The 2018 Toyota Yaris iA Sport Sedan Offers A Lot More for Less

When it was introduced last year, the Toyota Yaris iA surprised a lot of folks with its compelling mix of safety features, refined amenities and an engaging driving dynamic that was unusual for a subcompact sedan. Now, Toyota has loaded the 2018 Yaris iA with the safety features you want and fuel economy you'll appreciate.

Unlike many vehicles in its class, the Yaris features a standard low-speed pre-collision safety system -- part of Toyota's intention to offer standard automatic emergency braking on virtually all models by the end of this year. The system, one element in an advanced Active Safety System, examines the road ahead for potential collisions; if it senses that one is imminent, it emits an audio/visual alert and engages the automatic braking assistance. If the driver fails to respond to the alert, the system can automatically apply the brakes.

The Yaris iA, true to its nature, really steps up where fuel economy is concerned. The six-speed manual transmission is estimated by the EPA to get 30 city/39 highway/34 combined mpg; the six-speed automatic transmission earns an EPA-estimate of 32 city/40 highway/35 combined.
